Physical Properties: Phenol is a colorless needle shaped crystal or white crystalline melt with a special odor and burning odor, and extremely dilute solutions have a sweet taste; Easy to dissolve in ethanol, ether, chloroform, glycerol, carbon disulfide, vaseline, volatile oil, fixed oil, and strong alkaline aqueous solutions. Almost insoluble in petroleum ether.
